Our approach to night guards

Many patients can benefit from mouth guards including patients who…
● Clench or grind their teeth at night● Are experiencing bite issues● Regularly play contact sports● Suffer from TMJ issues

01

Examination

If you’re in need of a night guard, the first step is to visit us for an examination. During your review, we’ll take bite impressions of your teeth to use as a guide when fabricating your night guard.

02

Custom-fit

The next step is placing your customized guard into a special machine that uses heat and pressure to fuse or shape it according to our specifications. It is then allowed to cool before dipping in a special liquid that hardens when exposed to air.

03

Polishing

Finally, the guard is placed back into specialized equipment for further polishing and finishing.

Ready to use!

Once you leave our office with your new mouth guard, you can start using it immediately!

Night guards FAQ's

  • When you’re sleeping, your mouth moves quite a bit. If you have teeth grinding and clenching, you may find yourself grinding into your mouth guard during sleep. This can result in damaged teeth and receding gums.

  • It all depends on your policy. Dental insurance does not generally cover night guards or sleep-apnea mouth guards, for example.

  • When you wake up and remove your mouth guard daily, be sure to rinse it off with warm water and gently brush it with a gentle toothbrush and toothpaste. Store in a clean and cool place.
